Let us plan a Maine Country Wedding at Stone Mountain Arts Center personalizedjust for you! Scroll through this page to learn why a Stone Mountain Wedding will be unique and memorable.
Owner Carol Noonan performs in and produces performances for a living here
at Stone Mountain. One of the reasons people travel from all over to come to
this unique timber frame facility on the hill is because Carol has a unique talent for
presenting a very special event in a very special way.
Your wedding will look beautiful and feel beautiful
... from the music to the
flowers.
Carol has been a florist, a chef, a waitress, a bartender, and for
over a decade a national recording artist and renown singer
songwriter, and of course most recently a concert producer. Isn't that just
what you need? Forget those wedding planners! Carol Noonan knows how to
make stars like the Indigo Girls, Judy Collins, John Hiatt, Mary Chapin
Carpenter, and the Neville Brothers happy.....your special day is a piece of
wedding cake!
SMAC as the locals call it, has lots to offer, but the thing that sets us apart
from all the other venues is our personal touch. Carol and crew take your
wedding very personally and are here to help you through the entire process.
Carol and crew take your wedding very personally and are here to help you through the entire process.
We are happy to host all kinds of weddings regardless of religious or sexual orientation...as long as you're in love!
We are happy to say Maine has joined other states in supporting and finally legalizing Gay and Lesbian marriage. Woohoo... it's about time!
The Stone Mountain Arts Center boasts two beautiful timber frame barns available year round for your function.
The Maine Room...this is our golden framed main room and concert hall
with a raised stage back dropped by a beautiful stand of windows ... perfect
for your ceremony. If you would like to have both a ceremony and reception at
the Arts Center, the Maine Room will comfortably accommodate 120 to 150.
This is where the ceremony and dinner will take place. The ceremony is
generally held on the raised stage and theatre-style seating will be arranged
for your guests on the main floor with additional seating in the balcony if
necessary.
After the ceremony we will change it over for dinner while you
are whisked away to ...
The Quisisana Barn...this is literally the party bar. Our 200 year old
antique barn with vintage lighting and huge bar. This is where your reception
will begin and end. The bar will be open, and the horse and buggy could be
outside awaiting to take you for photos or just a ride around this pastoral
neighborhood ... the kids love that!!! While you are there, we will change the
Maine Room over for dinner. And after dinner you come back for the cake
cutting and dancing (photos below by Anne Skidmore Photography).
And with Carol's famous collection of goofy hats,
masks, and wigs handy, all your inhibitions go away and the fun begins with
colored lights. We strongly suggest you consider a photo booth set up here too. It is
great fun. (see Anne Skidmore Photography......she has an awesome help
yourself photo booth)
The Green Room...this is where all the stars get ready, and you are no
different....comfy couches, bathroom, shower, iron, steamer, mirrors,
...anything to make you look your best for your special day...oh, and a pool
table! Nothing like a game of pool to work out those pre-wedding gitters!
(please keep in mind the party is upstairs....this room is just for gettin'
ready!)
The Buffet Porch...If you choose a buffet style dinner, the very pretty buffet
room with old windows from the Crawford House, is located just off the Maine Hall so the food is not part of your picture! It has two
entrances so that serving your guests will just takes minutes. This pretty buffet
with pottery and colored lights is a fun way to get through the dinner portion
of your wedding without infringing too much on your space or party time.

If you or your family is from away... we'll help you with all the arrangements.
Not living here should not scare you off from getting married here at this special place. Most of our couples do not live locally. We can work that out for you.
We work with lots of local inns right nearby that we can work with to arrange a special weekend for you. Maybe stay at a nearby inn, have the rehearsal dinner, an afta wedding party, and big hangover breakfast. It’s really nice to have everyone in one place to gather ... it's a great time to catch up with family and friends you have not seen for awhile, they enjoy a little getaway and time with you, and you get a start on your honeymoon ... so think about that and then just bus to us!
If you give us the number of people, how many nights etc, we can work on it for you. And speaking of busses...
Bennet Bus Company....207-925-2190
- Rent a fun school bus and Aaron Bennet will get your guests to and fro safely for a great price!! We trust our kids with him...and people are just big kids when it comes to weddings anyway. I love seeing all the fancy dresses and tuxedos hauling into the bus at the end of the night..AND I know everyone will get back safely! It is just another unique style choice that fits getting married here. But please, AAron requests that you do not sing, "100 bottles of beer on the wall" !
We'll take the work and worry out of planning a destination wedding away.
We will help you with every detail from flowers, photographer, cake, ceremony, and reception to lodging, your rehearsal, and local transportation as needed.
Hannah Babineau, our in-house wedding planner, will even help pin on the boutonnieres and is always on hand for any last minute support needed!!!
As a result of hosting many weddings, we have found that this schedule sample of a typical SMAC Wedding is most enjoyable for the bride, groom, family and all their guests.
3:50: Horse and buggy pick up bride at the dressing room door. 4:00: Ceremony in the Maine Room
Cocktail reception and photos follow in the Quisisana Barn with an open bar of beer and wine until dinnertime and appetizers for your guests. They will be
well taken care of while you take your photos. Horse and buggy is also
available for photo opps too. Your buggy driver Tim has a beautiful spot with
a mountain vista just minutes away for that special mountain photo backdrop. 5:30 - 6:00: Guests invited back into the Maine Room for dinner.
We will
welcome you back into the room with a glass of bubbly.
Start with a champagne toast, then dinner is served!
After dinner move into the Quisisana Barn for your first dance and cake
cutting.
Music and dancing continue! 10:00: Time to go home....or plan an after party!

Our party is always inside, but there are two great outdoor spaces for
ceremonies right here in town
Tim and Laura's: Just a buggy ride up the road...a no frills place to
have your ceremony complete with open fields, stone walls, and mountain
vistas. There is no parking available, so this would require a shuttle service
up to the property. This is also where Maggie, Donna and the horse and
buggy live!
Chamberlain Farm: This is about 10 minutes away...as you pass a Christmas
Tree Farm you will come upon a beautiful compound of barns and out
buildings. Flat fields, stone walls, and mountains surrounding, this property
has ample parking and will provide some seating and a wedding trellis.
*And if the weather is bad, we are always prepared to do the ceremony
here.!
*And we do not recommend outdoors ceremonies during black fly season!!
Rehearsal: If we do not have an event the night before your wedding, you are welcome to do a rehearsal in the Maine Hall. If there is an event please plan on rehearsing earlier in the day or earlier in the week. Please note that there are no guaranteed rehearsal days or times. We do our best to keep the night before your wedding free, but there maybe a show or another wedding.....so rehearsals have to be arranged accordingly. If nothing is booked the night before your date when you book, and you want to guarantee that is stays open, there is a fee of $1000.00.
The Food:
We refer to our food as Gourmet Comfort Food.....if you want popovers
and Wellington, we are probably not the place for you....but if you want some
simple, fun, yummy, really pretty, fresh food we are really good at that. We
are all about color and taste...we will not stand a crustacean on a plate to
look back at you. But the platter of food that comes out will definitely make
you smile. The entrees are usually fish or chicken or a fish and a pork.
Expensive seafood or meats would be an additional charge...But let's
talk.....nothing is written in stone. Please contact us for our menu ideas, and
we are always open to yours, but here is a sample from a recent wedding:
Appetizers:
*Warm Artichoke Dip and Bruchetta with Crostini
*Mediterranean Platter, humus, black olives, feta cheese, roasted
peppers, and raw veggies.
*Cheese and Fruit with cracker basket
*Choice of
Maple Glazed Scallops and Bacon with chili sauce OR Cocktail Shrimp.
Dinner Buffet served with lots of pottery and color. It does not look
like those big banquet room buffets..its, humble, pretty, and
bountiful. Here are some sample below, but really want to hear from
you what you like..what you hate....and then design a wedding menu
just for you.
Choice of two main courses....here is just a few samples of some wedding
requested dishes.
* Garlicky Steak Tips served with a side of Horseradish Cream (guys love
these tips)
* Atlantic Salmon with Carol's maple mustard creme (an artist favorite)
* Chicken Kabobs with Sweet Potatoes, rainbow peppers and creamy pesto
sauce
* Roasted Salmon with a seasonal salsa
* Pork Tenderloin with maple bourbon sauce
* Pesto and spinach stuffed chicken with a lemon butter sauce
Gotta lot of Vegetarians?
*Lauren's famous Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna
The Rest of the Buffet....
* Red Potatoes
* Roasted Garden Veggie Platter
* Fresh Mozzarella and Tomato and Basil Platter
* Fresh Salad Greens with bowls of salad fixins like, goat cheese, blue cheese, glazed pecans,
cukes, tomatoes, berries etc.
* Corn bread
And lastly....we are Irish..we will never run out of food!!!!
Alcohol...
For your open bar our house wines and our beer list will be available.
Top shelf wines for the open bar or the table maybe be added at an extra
charge. We provide a hefty time for this too, with plenty of staff...no one
will wait for a drink....and the “one hour open bar” is a loose term. Usually
we keep it going until you come into dinner....which can take longer than an
hour, between photos and such. Not to worry..we won;t throw the cash
register up in the middle of your cocktail hour.
Stone Mountain Arts Center is licensed to only serve beer and wine. There is
no outside liquor may be brought in or leave the premises. Drinking outside
the building or in your vehicles is a no-no. Please keep the party inside.
In other words we want you to have a good time, but not at the cost of
your loved ones and our license. All Maine laws still apply.....even in the
country, especially in the country. Our country roads are a challenge as it is.
It is our strong suggestion that you hire shuttles or arrange for designated
drivers so that all of you can enjoy your special day safely. If you have
underagers please let them know they can ruin your night by drinking
illegally.....and if you have guests who look young, make sure they bring
ID's... everyone looks ten to me now! Basically it is your job to inform your
guests of our policies, so the day goes off without a hitch......except of
course for you gettin' hitched!
A Variety of Items are available
for Dinner served Buffet or
Family-style in lots of pottery.

The personal touch and planning skills by owner Carol Noonan

Jackie and her Flowers!!:
Jackie Gardner is a great florist and a great person. She is also one of our full time staffers. She lives on Moonset Farm with too many animals and is always happy to have you over to
discuss your big day. Regardless of what package you choose, she is really reasonably
priced and wicked talented (see flowers right).
In-House Wedding Officiant:
Our gal Hannah Babineau, can perform your ceremony for
you ... she will look great in your pictures too! She is beautiful on the outside and on
the inside and has a voice that will carry over the fullest of rooms. She will spend
lots of time to customize your ceremony. We think she’s great.

Photography:
We recommend Anne Skidmore. She is a local gal, and
we think she is great. She has done a lot of weddings here and is highly
recommended. She knows the area, knows the ins and outs of our venue, and
knows how to be get a great shot without being a distraction. You will barely
know she is there...and she takes a beautiful photo. But book her early...she is
very popular! Email Anne or call her at 603-502-0835. Visit our sample wedding links for a sample of Anne's work.
April Cornell:
They have an outlet store North Conway, NH....if you want a lot of unique table linens, they give us a huge discount....let's talk!
Their stuff is gorgeous and we use a lot of their linens here. A nice cafe cloth could be a nice statement draped over a traditional white.
Pianist - Sonny Barbato:
Sonny plays in my band..he is an amazing pianist and accordion player. He played for years in the Copley Plaza Hotel piano bar. ..very old school but he can interpret any song for a ceremony and is great for the dinner hour. He is also an amazing accordion player....he will even stroll. I know again, kinda old school, but I think he is awesome.
617-924-6765
JP/Minister:
Mary Edes is the minister for a local UU Church. But whether you are religious or definitely not, Mary just does the best certemonies..she’s funny, sweet, really gets the couples she works with and can always tailor the ceremony for your style and philosophies.
DJ ... we recommend two great guys:
Both these guys are very professional and we like them a lot.
* Rob Riccitelli - 207-332-1010
He is a DJ at WCYY in Portland and does a great job and very reasonable
* Luke Lanigan - 207-351-5383
Also does a great job..a little more high end.
Some Vendors We Really Like!
We prefer to do as much in house as possible to make it all go smoothly and easily for you...but if you hire outside vendors, here are few we really like!
While we are in the Music business, not the wedding business, we are all about the ceremony.
The Stone Mountain Arts Center is a very special place to have a fun casual wedding. Lots of big stars have graced our stage. Now it is your turn!!! Call 1-207-935-7292 or send us an email to set up an appointment to see if we are a good fit. I'm auditioning you too ya know!!! That might sound funny, but I really want this to be a good experience for you. If I sense that we can't make you happy, I will not take your hard earned money. Frankly I think you should all elope, save your money and put a down payment on a house.!!!! But I guess if you're reading this, that is already out of the question.
Sooo, hope to hear from you and best wishes for a new future together.
Carol Noonan
